Real Madrid appear to be closing in on the signing of Franck Ribery, despite his employers at Bayern Munich furiously denying that there are ongoing negotiations or that they are prepared to part with the Frenchman.
Los Blancos’ sporting advisor, Zinedine Zidane, has revealed that there are in fact discussions being carried out at the moment as he backed up his previous statement that the club will do everything they can to bring Ribery to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I am not in Madrid at the moment, but there are meetings being held at the moment regarding this matter. The negotiations are on the right track,” he told Le Parisien.
“I am all for Ribery joining Madrid and I will do everything to make it possible.”
Zidane then went on to speak about his new role up at the Bernabeu offices rather than down on the pitch.
“I am learning a lot in my job as the president’s advisor and I meet with [Florentino] Perez regularly,” he explained.
“Until now, I only knew how things ran in the dressing room, but now I am learning about the things that go on at the top of the club.”
Meanwhile, AS believes that ‘Zizou’ will be heading over to Munich in the next few days to personally close the deal to sign Ribery.
